In accordance with section 136A of the Gene Technology Act 2000 (the Act), I am pleased to present to you the Quarterly Report of the Operations of the Gene Technology Regulator, covering the period 1 October to 31 December 2011.
During this period one licence for dealings involving intentional release of GMOs and three licences for dealings not involving intentional release of GMOs were issued, while 26 physical containment facilities were certified.
Routine monitoring activities for this quarter exceeded the target rate and no significant risks to either human health or the environment were identified.
