Certain types of dealings (activities) with Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) must not involve intentional release of GMOs into the environment. Generally this means that they are undertaken in containment facilities, which may need to be certified by the Gene Technology Regulator. These types of dealings are:

    • Exempt Dealings
    • Notifiable Low Risk Dealings (NLRD)
    • Dealings Not Involving Intentional Release (DNIR)
