Quality Use of Pathology
Best Practice in Pathology Requesting and Reporting Workshop 9 December 2009
A report by David Simpson of Apis Group Pty Ltd to the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing
The Best Practice in Pathology Requesting and Reporting Workshop held in Sydney on 9 December 2009 was the third in a series of workshops to look at issues relevant to the quality use of pathology. The previous two workshops focused on issues of patient safety and quality in pathology. This workshop provided a forum for pathologists and pathology requesters to discuss good pathology requesting practice and quality reporting of pathology test results.
The workshops have proved to be a successful means of identifying future priorities for the Quality Use of Pathology Program. The report from the Best Practice in Pathology Requesting and Reporting Workshop summarises the valuable discussion that followed presentations to workshop attendees.
Note: Copies of presentations given at this workshop are available by contacting the QUPP Secretariat at qupp@health.gov.au
