Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan
Welcome to the Department of Health and Ageing's Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan information site.
From here you can access information about elective surgery performance in public hospitals from state and territory websites and information about the plan, progress to date and associated media.
What is the Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan?
The Commonwealth Government is working with the states and territories to reduce the number of patients waiting longer than clinically recommended for elective surgery.
The Commonwealth Government will provide up to $600 million over four years to states and territories for the Elective Surgery Waiting List Reduction Plan.
The initiative will reduce the number of people waiting longer than clinically recommended for surgery by providing financial incentives to improve elective surgery capacity in public hospitals and by making states and territories more accountable for their performance and rewarding them for better outcomes.
CheckIt 2
The Department has developed an application (Check-It 2) to assist State and Territory health departments to meet their quarterly reporting obligations. Check-It 2 will validate quarterly files and report whether they comply with the published specifications.
Elective Surgery Waiting List Quarterly Collection: Check-It 2
State and territory reporting of elective surgery performance
States and territories have committed to maintaining effort in elective surgery and other areas of public hospital service provision and will report on a quarterly basis.
As part of the plan, states and territories will report on elective surgery performance in public hospitals through their websites, so that patients can make informed decisions about their own health care based on individual hospital results.
By following the links below, you can access these sites and obtain information on elective surgery admissions and waiting lists at individual hospitals in each state and territory.
