This section of the department's website provides information on the Medicare Teen Dental Plan and the Chronic Disease Dental Scheme.
Important Note
The Medicare Chronic Disease Dental Scheme continues to operate and there is no closure date set at this stage. The Government attempted to close the Scheme in 2008 but the necessary legislative instrument was disallowed by the Senate. The Government is continuing to consider policy options for improved dental services for Australians. The Government has stated its intention to close the Scheme, but at this stage the Scheme remains open.
