HIV Health Alert

Queensland Health has today notified the public of man who is believed to have had sexual encounters with an unknown number of women in several states while being HIV-positive since 1997.

The Queensland Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, said a man being extradited to Queensland from New South Wales today was believed to have had sex with several women, one of whom had since tested positive to the virus.

Women who may have had a sexual encouter with the man should obtain information, testing, counselling and support from a sexual health clinic or their GP.
